Need a source on AI in business?
I run four companies and I'm turning them into AI-first companies, in public. If you're writing about AI replacing work, AI in small business, or what an AI-first company actually looks like, I can give you the real version: numbers, what worked, and what didn't.
Only about 1 in 5 U.S. businesses report using AI at all (Census Bureau, 2026). I'm running four of them on it.

Short bio
Matt Hall runs four companies, including the digital marketing agency Scepter Marketing and the ecommerce software company Ecom Circles, and is building them into AI-first companies in public at marketermatt.com.
Long bio
Matt Hall has been building businesses online since 2009, when he started Scepter Marketing, a digital marketing agency, out of his apartment. He went on to found Ecom Circles, whose tools have been used by more than 3,000 marketplace sellers, and Scepter Commerce, and he is the operator at Marapack.
By his own admission he is a bad manager, so he is building something else: companies where AI does the work and he only handles the decisions. Incoming work becomes tasks, tasks get defined well enough for AI to do them, questions go to the one person who can answer them, and a second AI checks the work. He documents the build daily at marketermatt.com. He lives in Lansing, Michigan with his wife and kids.

Quotable
I suck as a manager. I just expect people to show up, do their job, and ask me questions if they have problems. And now AI is that.
People just say, hey AI, go build me a million dollar a year business, and then they want to go sit on the beach. That's not how it works. You have to have definition.
Every task in my business climbs the same ladder: in my head, written down, handed off, runs itself.
A busy dashboard isn't the same thing as work getting done.
